You can integrate your enterprise directory with VMware Workspace ONE® Access™ to sync users and groups to the Workspace ONE Access service. Workspace ONE Access supports integration with Active Directory and with LDAP directories such as OpenLDAP.
When you integrate a directory, a limited number of user and group attributes, specified by the administrator, are synced to the Workspace ONE Access service. User passwords and any attributes other than the ones specified by the administrator are not synced.
The Directory Sync service is required for directory integration. Before using this document, install the Directory Sync service, which is available as a component of the Workspace ONE Access connector beginning with version 20.01. See the latest version of Installing VMware Workspace ONE Access Connector for information.
NEW, MAY 2023 - Functionality Discontinued for Legacy Connectors
VMware Identity Manager Connector 19.03.0.1 reached the end of extended support on August 31, 2022. All functionality related to 19.03.0.1 and earlier connectors is now discontinued in the Workspace ONE Access cloud service. See KB 90808 for more information.
NEW, JAN 2023 - VMware Identity Services Integration
VMware Identity Services is a new service for integrating Workspace ONE services, including Workspace ONE Access, with a third-party identity provider to provide centralized user management. VMware Identity Services is based on the System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) 2.0 protocol.
VMware Identity Services is available for new Workspace ONE tenants that do not have any existing directory or identity provider integrations.
In Workspace ONE Access tenants that have VMware Identity Services enabled, directory, users, user groups, attributes, and identity provider pages are read-only as these settings are managed by VMware Identity Services.
Also, some features are not available in tenants that have VMware Identity Services enabled. See the Unsupported Workspace ONE Features topic in the Configuring User Provisioning and Identity Federation with VMware Identity Services guide.

Workspace ONE Access also supports other types of directories, such as local directories and Just-in-Time directories. For information about creating those types of directories, see the Workspace ONE Access Administration guide.
