Workflow for Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps

When you first start working in Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps, you need to generate an App ID so you can add it to your consumer app.

  1. Register the SDK-integrated app with the Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps console. Registration generates an App ID. Add this App ID to your consumer app when you integrate the Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK.
  2. In your app, integrate the Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK and add the App ID.
  3. View analytics by searching for the app in the Apps dashboard. You can also create custom dashboards for your apps.

Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK tracks app analytics

The SDK can track several analytics to display and analyze on the Apps or custom dashboards.

  • It tracks user behaviors.
  • It tracks fatal and non fatal errors in apps.
  • It tracks handled exceptions.
  • It tracks user flows. User flows are key interactions within the app that include logins, account registration, in-app purchases, and app load times, successes, cancellations, and failures.

Register Consumer Apps

Add an app to Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps to generate an App ID and to track and manage its engagement and adoption in Dashboards.

Prerequisites

You need the package ID of your app. Find the package ID in the app store URL after the identifier (id=com.company.appname).

Procedure

  1. Register your app with Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps. Registering your app creates an account with Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps. It also creates an App ID. Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps uses this account and the App ID to communicate with the Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK you integrate with your app.
    1. Access the Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps console.
    2. Add an app in the Apps dashboard in Workspace > Unified Endpoint Management > Apps > Intelligence SDK Apps > Get Started > Add Application.
    3. Select New Application.
    4. Enter values in the Add Apps window.
      • App Name - Enter the app’s name.
      • Platform - Select the app’s platform.
      • Package ID - The package ID has other names. for iOS and tvOS, use the app bundle ID. For Android, use the app package name. Find the package ID in the app store URL after the identifier (id=com.company.appname).
    5. If you do not have apps in the Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps environment, the system prompts you to create an Apteligent by VMware account. Having an Apteligent by VMware account offers some features not available without an account. If you opt in, the system sends you an email invite to set up your account in Apteligent by VMware. You reset your password, and use the email you entered for your account creation to log in. This log in is to the Apteligent by VMware console. This console has the same apps you add in your Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps environment. Apteligent by VMware data centers are in the United States. If you do not want to have data sent to centers in the U.S, opt out of creating an account. You can still use Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps.
    6. Finish the registration to generate the App ID in the Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps console.
    7. In Workspace > Unified Endpoint Management > Apps > Intelligence SDK Apps > View All, get the App ID for the registered app in the list table. The App ID is a long, alpha-numeric string. Add this value to your consumer app when you integrate the Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK.
    8. If you need the SDK-integration instructions, copy them or have the system email them to you from the list view.
  2. Add the Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK and the Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps-generated App ID to your app. The Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK feeds data to Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps for display and analysis. Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps uses the App ID to link app data with your consumer app.
    1. If you do not have the Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK, get it from the Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps console in Workspace > Unified Endpoint Management > Apps > Intelligence SDK Apps > Download SDK.
    2. Follow the instructions for adding the Workspace ONE Intelligence SDK and the App ID to your app.
  3. View analytics for your consumer apps in the Apps dashboard by searching for the package ID or app name in the global search.

You can also add custom dashboards from My Dashboards. With custom dashboards you can create and save a work area to perform a task, analyze a situation, or solve a problem over time. Use the Apteligent category to select metrics concerning your SDK-integrated apps.

  • App Loads
  • Custom Events
  • Network Errors
  • Application Events
  • User Flows
  • iOS Crashes
  • Android Crashes
  • Processed iOS Crashes
  • Processed Android Crashes

Processed iOS Crashes and Processed Android Crashes include only symbolicated crash reports. To process crashes successfully, you must upload symbol (.dSYM) files for iOS apps and ProGuard mapping.txt files for Android apps. Workspace ONE Intelligence for Consumer Apps requires these files to process crashes successfully, to symbolicate them, and group them.

Note: If you are not using ProGuard in your Android app, then skip this upload.
