When you have AWCM installed with an SSL certificate and you are an on-premises customer, you must update AWCM after the certificate expires to renew the certificate and maintain functionality. To renew the SSL certificate, remove and re-install AWCM.

Before you begin renewing the SSL certificate, obtain the full chain (.pfx or .p12) of your renewed SSL certificate.

Remove AWCM

Important: Depending on which components are installed on your server with AWCM, service or functionality disruptions might occur during the re-installation process. Refer to Workspace ONE UEM Upgrade Guide for more details on stopping and restarting services.
  1. Obtain the full Workspace ONE UEM installer that corresponds to the current Workspace ONE UEM version your environment is running and copy it to the server where AWCM is installed. If you kept your last-used installer, then you can use it. Otherwise, contact Workspace ONE UEM support to receive the installer for your specific Workspace ONE UEM version.
  2. Run the installer Workspace ONE UEM – Installation Wizard on the server where AWCM is installed.
  3. Ensure Add/Remove AirWatch features is selected and click Next.
  4. On the AirWatch Features screen, click AirWatch Device Services.
  5. Select AirWatch Cloud Messaging (AWCM).
  6. Select This feature will not be available.

  7. On the next screens, click Next to advance the installation wizard.
  8. On the Ready to Modify the Program screen, click Install to complete the removal of AWCM.
  9. Click Finish to close the Workspace ONE UEM – Installation Wizard.

Re-Install AWCM

After removing AWCM, reinstall AWCM with the certificate obtained you obtained.

  1. Run the Workspace ONE UEM – Installation Wizard.
  2. Ensure Add/Remove AirWatch features is selected and click Next.
  3. On the AirWatch Features screen, click AirWatch Device Services.
  4. Select This Feature, and all subfeatures, will be installed on local hard drive.

  5. To advance through the next configuration screens, click Next.
  6. On the AirWatch Cloud Messaging Server Information screen, ensure Use custom SSL certificated instead of built-in AirWatch certificate is selected.

  7. To navigate to the ertificate you obtained, click Browse.
  8. Type the Certificate Password and click Next.
  9. To complete the installation, renewing the SSL Certificate, click Next.
  10. To close the Workspace ONE UEM – Installation Wizard, click Finish.
