Creating Workflows for Complex Profiles

Profiles are the primary means to configure your Windows 10 devices to connect to Wi-Fi, use a VPN, restrict access to settings, and more. For Windows platform, some of the profiles such as BIOS, Kiosk, and OEM Updates have dependency on the installation of certain applications before the profiles can be installed on the devices. For example, the OEM Updates and the BIOS profiles are dependent on Dell Command Update or Monitor apps and the Windows Kiosk profile is dependent on installation of few internal apps.

As an admin, you can use Freestyle workflows to sequence the installation of apps and profiles to the devices as desired. Using workflows, the admins can view the status of the installation of the apps and profiles on the devices. The BIOS, Kiosk, and OEM Updates profiles have an option in the profiles edit view to a create workflow for the installation of the profile. VMware recommends using Freestyle workflows to install these special profiles on your Windows devices.

The following sections describe the procedure to create workflows to install the BIOS, Kiosk, and OEM Updates profiles for Windows devices.
