Workspace ONE Launcher 23.08 for Android

New Features

We are constantly working to improve Workspace ONE Launcher for Android. There are no new features to report for this release.

Minimum Requirements

  • Android 5.1 or later

  • Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub 20.09 for Android

    • For Toggling WiFi minimum version is 22.08

    • For Launcher WiFi screen is 22.09

  • Workspace ONE UEM Console 2203 or later

Resolved Issues

  • ALAU-172652: RDP Weblink not re-opening on the Launcher on Zebra devices.

  • ALAU-172679: In some cases, clearing app data takes longer to complete.

  • ALAU-172670: Integrate Intelligence SDK to Launcher.

We are constantly working to improve Workspace ONE Launcher. There are no known issues to report at this time.

Download Requirements

  • Prior Version is Installed: The admin can decide when to push the app once it is available on the Workspace ONE UEM console as a seeded application.

    • For devices that support silent install of applications, the Launcher application seamlessly updates over the existing application version without disrupting device enterprise functionality. For devices that do not support silent install of applications, the users will be prompted to install the new version.

    • For Android 6.0 and above, the user will be prompted to grant permission for the Launcher to have access to the Usage Data, if they have not already granted the permissions.

    • For Android 5.0, the users will be prompted to grant permissions for Launcher to have access to Usage Data only if the admin has pushed a profile requiring the user to do so (more details present in previous technical bulletins).

  • Prior Version is Not Installed: Once the admin decides to push the Workspace ONE Launcher to the devices, the Launcher gets downloaded to the device as a seeded application.

    • For Samsung SAFE devices, the Launcher will be setup without any end user interaction and the native launcher will be replaced by Workspace ONE Launcher. For non-SAFE devices, the user will be directed through a two-step process to set the Workspace ONE Launcher as the default Launcher.

    • For Android 6.0 and above, the user will be prompted to grant permission for the Launcher to have access to the Usage Data, if they have not already granted the permissions.

    • For Android 5.0, the users will be prompted to grant permissions for Launcher to have access to Usage Data only if the admin has pushed a profile requiring the user to do so (more details present in previous technical bulletins).

  • ALAU-172405: Launcher now updates device password changes even if the device was idle.

  • ALAU-172605: Launcher device details now correctly shows device name after it has been changed by the user.

Workspace ONE Launcher 23.04 for Android

New Features

  • Device check-In when device is docked in Guest Mode

    • As part of our continued efforts to enhance Launcher Guest Mode, we are extending the capability for a device to check-in when it is docked. Please note this requires Hub version 23.04.

  • Added Vendor Mode

    • We have introduced another mode called Vendor Mode. This mode works exactly the same as Guest Mode and allows a different user to login that do not have credentials to login normally, or through Guest Mode.

  • ALAU-172260: Remove unnecessary screens during Check-in Check-out.

  • ALAU-172425: The floating action button does not stay in place when accessed if notifications are received while in Single App Kiosk mode.

  • ALAU-172390: Launcher 2302 creates Hub folder with name "Hub" regardless of the profile settings.

  • ALAU-172394: Launcher on Motorola LEX L11 device gives access to device setting page while clicking Certificate Install notification.

Workspace ONE Launcher 23.04 for Android

New Features

    • As part of our continued efforts to make Launcher customizable, we are introducing a new feature that will allow administrators to rename certain text fields on Launcher UI.

New Features

  • We've enhanced the Launcher application icon to allow custom branding for the Action and Status bars. 

    • As part of our continued efforts to enhance the Launcher user interface, we have added new controls for the Action and Status bars. With this release, administrators can customize the title bar color, title text color, primary accent color, status bar color, and highlight color by sending down a custom XML setting. 

  • We've set the maximum screen timeout to Never.

Resolved Issues for Workspace ONE Launcher 22.10 for Android

  • ALAU-171819: Custom Setting to allow Volumeslider icon being visible with Android 11+ when device is enrolled with COSU mode.

  • ALAU-172161: Folders with apps disappear on reload intermittently.

  • ALAU-172160: The white title bar and status bar themes are applied in the dark theme.

  • ALAU-172144: Recent Task List button displays in Launcher on Samsung OS 12 devices until the profile is reloaded.

Workspace ONE Launcher 22.07 for Android

New Features

We've improved Launcher icons.

As part of our continued efforts to enhance Launcher User Interface, we have enhanced how applications icons are displayed within Launcher. With this release, the white circular border around the application icon is removed. This should help the icons look more polished and easier to see.

  • Introduced support for running Launcher as a Foreground Service:

    • In order to improve resiliency and better detect app crashes, Launcher will now run as a foreground service. As part of this, there are  persistent notifications on the native notification tray informing the end user that Launcher is running as a foreground service.

Workspace ONE Launcher 22.01 for Android

New Features

  • Introduced improved user experiences for Launcher setting screens.

    • Added the ability to sync Hub from Launcher settings menu.

    • Removed the Help option in the Launcher menu settings.

  • Target SDK level has been increased to level 26 which removes support for several Custom XML features that depend on overlays which are no longer possible. Note: No features configured through the Android Launcher profile are affected.

    • Impacted features include DismissSafeRebootDialog, DismissPowerOffDialog, DisplayLockScreenMessage, and TabletOverlaySettings.

  • Introducing improved user experiences for check-in check-out flows and single app mode:

    • Cleaned up the check-in check-out login screen and profile loading screens.

    • Introduced a dropdown for selecting recently used Group IDs to speed up the log in process.

    • Introduced new screens and animations for permission granting screens:

      • We now show the permission screens before an end user checks out the device.

  • Redesigned the single app floating home button with new customization.

  • You can now manually specify the duration of showing the clearing app data waiting screen before the next user can log into the device.

Workspace ONE Launcher 21.09 for Android

New Features

  • Introducing a new user experience redesigned for ease of use and familiarity:

    • Cleaned up the home screen experience, notifications, settings, and action bar navigation based on customer feedback.

    • Introduced a dedicated screen for the Launcher dropdown menu which will now be home to  new Launcher productivity widgets.

    • Moved Admin Mode access to settings to keep the home screen experience focused on end-user employee features.

    • Added a dark mode so the Launcher user interface can comply with your organization's branding.

    • Added an optional search bar so end-users can easily find apps and bookmarks on the Home Screen.

    • Added the optional flashlight functionality to the quick access features.

  • Introducing Launcher widgets that are entirely customizable:.

    • The custom attribute widget will allow admins to display custom attributes or lookup values for simple referencing and end-user troubleshooting.

    • The custom HTML widget will allow admins to display HTML or a web page within Launcher's dropdown menu. In addition, admins can create fully custom views using this feature and even leverage mobile deep linking to create a native-like UI.

      • Admins can use lookup values to populate URL queries and dynamically display web views based on the device or user.

  • Workspace ONE Launcher 21.09 for Android includes support for Android 12.

  • Workspace ONE Launcher 21.09 for Android includes support for Scoped Storage changes.

  • Admins can now track the usage of Launcher through Workspace ONE Intelligence. 

    • You can track user count and metrics related to check-in check-out. This includes check in failures, check out failures, and loading time for the home screen.

    • You can now use weblinks to deep link into Hub features like the Apps and People Tab.

        • Navigates to application specified by the app name.

Resolved Issues for Workspace ONE Launcher 21.06 for Android
