For devices that support silent install of applications, the Launcher application seamlessly updates over the existing application version without disrupting device enterprise functionality. For devices that do not support silent install of applications, the users will be prompted to install the new version.
For Android 6.0 and above, the user will be prompted to grant permission for the Launcher to have access to the Usage Data, if they have not already granted the permissions.
For Android 5.0, the users will be prompted to grant permissions for Launcher to have access to Usage Data only if the admin has pushed a profile requiring the user to do so (more details present in previous technical bulletins).
Prior Version is Not Installed: Once the admin decides to push the Workspace ONE Launcher to the devices, the Launcher gets downloaded to the device as a seeded application.
For Samsung SAFE devices, the Launcher will be setup without any end user interaction and the native launcher will be replaced by Workspace ONE Launcher. For non-SAFE devices, the user will be directed through a two-step process to set the Workspace ONE Launcher as the default Launcher.
For Android 6.0 and above, the user will be prompted to grant permission for the Launcher to have access to the Usage Data, if they have not already granted the permissions.

Device check-In when device is docked in Guest Mode
As part of our continued efforts to enhance Launcher Guest Mode, we are extending the capability for a device to check-in when it is docked. Please note this requires Hub version 23.04.
Added Vendor Mode
We have introduced another mode called Vendor Mode. This mode works exactly the same as Guest Mode and allows a different user to login that do not have credentials to login normally, or through Guest Mode.

Customization of Launcher UI Text
As part of our continued efforts to make Launcher customizable, we are introducing a new feature that will allow administrators to rename certain text fields on Launcher UI.
ALAU-171687: Launcher wallpaper not applied to the entire screen.
ALAU-172144: Recent Task List button is displayed in Launcher on Samsung OS 12 devices until profile is reloaded.
ALAU-172242: Android Launcher blocks phone App in error when coming back to user mode from admin mode.
ALAU-172237: Color of Status bar and Action bar is gray on Zebra devices.
ALAU-172278: Launcher Title Branding gets reversed to default when exited and entered again.

We've enhanced the Launcher application icon to allow custom branding for the Action and Status bars.
As part of our continued efforts to enhance the Launcher user interface, we have added new controls for the Action and Status bars. With this release, administrators can customize the title bar color, title text color, primary accent color, status bar color, and highlight color by sending down a custom XML setting.
We've set the maximum screen timeout to Never.

We've improved Launcher icons.
As part of our continued efforts to enhance Launcher User Interface, we have enhanced how applications icons are displayed within Launcher. With this release, the white circular border around the application icon is removed. This should help the icons look more polished and easier to see.

Introduced support for running Launcher as a Foreground Service:
In order to improve resiliency and better detect app crashes, Launcher will now run as a foreground service. As part of this, there are persistent notifications on the native notification tray informing the end user that Launcher is running as a foreground service.

Target SDK level has been increased to level 26 which removes support for several Custom XML features that depend on overlays which are no longer possible. Note: No features configured through the Android Launcher profile are affected.

The custom attribute widget will allow admins to display custom attributes or lookup values for simple referencing and end-user troubleshooting.
The custom HTML widget will allow admins to display HTML or a web page within Launcher's dropdown menu. In addition, admins can create fully custom views using this feature and even leverage mobile deep linking to create a native-like UI.
Admins can use lookup values to populate URL queries and dynamically display web views based on the device or user.
