What's in the Release Notes?

Workspace ONE Tunnel for iOS Release Notes describe the new features and enhancements in each release. This page contains a summary of the new capabilities, issues that have been resolved, and known issues that have been reported in each release over the last 12 months.

Workspace ONE Tunnel 23.06.02

New Features

  • In this release, we’ve made a few updates containing general quality and performance improvements with no new features.

Minimum Requirements

  • The following are the minimum requirements for this release.

    • iOS version 14 or later

    • Workspace ONE UEM Console 2203 or later

Resolved Issues

  • PPAT-15189 Connection to internal websites fail intermittently on IPv6 networks.

Known Issues

  • PPAT-14612 User may be presented with multiple Safe Browsing notifications when Phishing and Content Protection is enabled.

Workspace ONE Tunnel 23.06.01

New Features

  • In this release, we’ve made a few updates containing general quality and performance improvements with no new features.

  • PPAT-15009 Tunnel client prompts user for credentials on application launch.

Workspace ONE Tunnel 23.06

New Features

  • In this release, we’ve made a few updates containing general quality and performance improvements with one new feature, Standalone Enrollment explained below.

    To facilitate secure remote access on unmanaged devices, VMware is pleased to introduce Standalone enrollment for the iOS Tunnel client. Standalone enrollment supports Full Device Tunnel mode with Per-App mode planned for future release. There is no requirement for Workspace MDM enrollment or HUB on the device. Basic and SAML authentication is supported for user enrollment. This client version supports both MDM and Standalone workflows. Administrators may create new Full Device DTR or use existing Full Device DTR. For Standalone enrollment, Tunnel profiles are configured on the Tunnel configuration page.

    Minimum Requirements for Standalone Enrollment:

    • Workspace ONE UEM 2302 or later

    • Unified Access Gateway 2212 or later

Resolved Issues

  • PPAT-14689 Connection improvements for UDP based voice applications.

Known Issues

  • PPAT-14612 User may be presented with multiple Safe Browsing notifications when Workspace ONE Mobile Threat Defense Phishing and Content Protection is enabled.

Workspace ONE Tunnel 23.01.1

New Features

  • In this release, we’ve made a few updates containing general quality and performance improvements with the following New Feature and Technical Preview.

    • Workspace ONE Mobile Threat Defense- Integrated Phishing & Content Protection. This Tunnel release supports a new feature, Phishing and Content Protection, which will be made available as part of the upcoming iOS HUB release.

    • Technical Preview: Session MFA- We are happy to announce an exciting update to our Workspace ONE Tunnel solution. Workspace ONE Tunnel on iOS now supports Session MFA with SAML in Managed Mode.

      To facilitate user-interactive authentication for Tunnel, in addition to the existing certificate-based authentication, VMware is pleased to extend our Session Authentication feature to the iOS Tunnel client in Managed mode. This leverages your enterprise Identity Provider where you may also configure additional entitlement restrictions and Conditional Access policies.

      Session MFA is available for the Windows client in both Managed and Unmanaged modes and for the macOS client in Unmanaged mode. This feature is also in Technical Preview for the Android client in Managed mode.

      Minimum Requirements for this Technical Preview:

      • Workspace ONE UEM 2302 or later

      • Unified Access Gateway 2303 or later

  • PPAT-13572 Improved connection management to optimize battery consumption.

Workspace ONE Tunnel 22.01.1

New Features

  • In this release, we’ve made a few updates containing general quality and performance improvements with no new features.

Minimum Requirements

  • The following are the minimum requirements for this release.

    • iOS version 12.2 and later

    • Workspace ONE UEM Console 2004 or later

Resolved Issues

  • RNA-14040 Fixed an intermittent file download issue that may occur during high network latency.

  • RNA-14039 Improved the UDP socket management to fix intermittent connection issues.

Workspace ONE Tunnel 22.01

  • In this release, we’ve made a few updates containing general quality and performance improvements with no new features.

Resolved Issues

  • We are always working to improve Workspace ONE Tunnel with every release. There are no major bug fixes to report.

Resolved Issues

  • RNA-10122  Improved mobile single sign-on (SSO) workflow on the IPv6 cellular network.
