If Workstation Player is running on a multiprocessor host system, you can open a virtual machine that has more than 16 virtual processors assigned to it. You must change the number of processors before powering on the virtual machine.

You can see the number of processors in the virtual machine summary view or by viewing the virtual machine hardware settings.

Prerequisites

Power off the virtual machine.

Procedure

  1. Select the virtual machine and select Virtual Machine > Virtual Machine Settings.
  2. On the Hardware tab, select Processors.
Note that Number of processors is set to Other (x), where x is the number of processors originally assigned to it. Workstation Player preserves this original configuration setting for the number of processors, even though eight is the maximum number of processors supported.
  3. Change the Number of processors setting to 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16.
After you commit a change to this setting, the original setting for the number of processors is discarded and no longer appears as an option.
  4. Click OK to save your changes.
