You can use the virtual network editor to view and change key networking settings, add and remove virtual networks, and create custom virtual networking configurations. The changes that you make in the virtual network editor affect all virtual machines running on the host system.
On a Windows host, any user can view network settings, but only Administrator users can change them. On a Linux host, you must enter the root password to access the virtual network editor.
On Windows hosts, select to start the virtual network editor in Workstation Pro. You can also select to start the virtual network editor from the host operating system.
On Linux hosts, select to start the virtual network editor. The menu path might be different for your version of Linux. You can also start the network editor from the command line by using the vmware-netcfg command.
When you click Restore Default to restore the default network settings, all changes that you made to network settings after you installed Workstation Pro are permanently lost. Do not restore the default network settings when a virtual machine is powered on as this might cause serious damage to the bridged networking.
