Upgrade

vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR 1.5.0.1 supports in-place upgrade from version 1.0.X and version 1.5.

Resolved Issues

  • vCloud Director Organization administrators can see the list of replicated vApps for other organizations

When you log in to the vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR portal as an organization administrator, you can see the lists of incoming and outgoing vApp replications that belong to another vCloud Director organization.

This can happen if the name of the other vCloud Director Organization partially matches the name of your organization.

  • If you use the vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR portal, you cannot configure a replication by using a vApp seed

If you use the vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR portal and try to configure a new vApp replication by using a seed that exists in the target vCloud Director VDC, the seed selection does not take effect. The virtual machine disks are copied to the target site and the seed also remains stored in the target VDC.

  • Selecting the Discover vCloud Director Service address automatically option is not possible

When you reconfigure a vCloud Director instance to work with vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR, you can select to discover vCloud Director details automatically or to enter the required details manually.

When you edit the address of vCloud Director in the vCloud Director Details window, by default, none of the options is selected and selecting the Discover vCloud Director Service address automatically option does not take effect.

Known Issues

  • You cannot upgrade the vCloud Availability Tunnel appliance to version 1.5.0.1 by using the vCloud Availability Tunnel service management interface

The vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR 1.5.0.1 solution does not have а Check for update and Update tab.

Workaround: To upgrade the vCloud Availability Tunnel appliance to version 1.5.0.1 by using a specified repository, do the following:

    1. Prepare the local repository for upgrades.
      a. Install and configure a local Web server.
      b. Download the vCloud-Availability-C2C-1.5.0.1-11046132.iso file from the official VMware download site.
      c. Mount the ISO image and copy the update directory to the local Web server. The update directory should contain manifest and package-pool directories.
    2. Open an SSH connection to the vCloud Availability Tunnel appliance.
    3. Log in as root.
    4. To set the specified repository as update source, run the command:
      /usr/bin/sudo /opt/vmware/bin/vamicli update --repo _specified-repository-URL_
    5. To check for updates, run the command:
      /usr/bin/sudo /opt/vmware/bin/vamicli update --check
    6. To install the updates, run the command:
/usr/bin/sudo /opt/vmware/bin/vamicli update --install latest --accepteula
    7. Reboot the appliance by running the command:
      reboot

To upgrade the vCloud Availability Tunnel appliance to version 1.5.0.1 by using the default VMware repository or an ISO image, see How to upgrade the vCloud Availability Tunnel appliance to version 1.5.0.1.

  • The service management interfaces of vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR 1.5.0.1 components do not contain an Update tab

If you are upgrading from vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR 1.5 to version 1.5.x, the following three topics from the Installing, Configuring, and Upgrading vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR guide contain incorrect indication of the Check Updates button location:

Workaround: If you are upgrading from vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR 1.5, in the service management interfaces of vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR components, navigate to Configuration Product version entry Check for update. Before checking for updates, verify that the correct update repository is configured. By default, updates are installed from the Default VMware Repository. To change the update repository, click Editin the Update Repositoryentry and confirm your selection.

  • If you use the vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR portal, you cannot configure a replication by using a virtual machine seed

If you use the vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR portal and try to configure a new virtual machine replication by using a seed that exists in the target vCloud Director VDC, the seed selection does not take effect. The virtual machine disks are copied to the target site and the seed also remains stored in the target VDC.

Workaround: To configure a new vApp or virtual machine replication by using a seed, use the vCloud Availability for Cloud-to-Cloud DR API. For more information, see the vCloud Availability API Reference.
