Upgrading VMware Integrated OpenStack from 5.1.0 to 6.0 involves the deployment of a new VMware Integrated OpenStack appliance and the migration of the data from 5.1.0 to 6.0.
Prerequisites

Deploy the new VMware Integrated OpenStack 6.0 virtual appliance. See Install the New Virtual Appliance.

Verify that your existing VMware Integrated OpenStack deployment is up and running. To verify the deployment status, you can run the viocli deployment status command from the OpenStack Management Server console.

Verify that the backup functionality on the existing VMware Integrated OpenStack deployment works properly and that the disk is not full.

Download the
vio-upgrade-6.0-build-number.tar.gz
file from VMware product download site. -
Transfer the upgrade conversion script to the existing Management Server of VMware Integrated OpenStack 5.1.

Ensure that additional free IPs are available for Management and API networks.

To add additional IPs, follow these steps:

Go to Management vCenter > VIO 5.1 Plugin > VIO deployment > Manage > Networks.

Click the three dots next to the management or API network pool and click Add IP range.

Management and API networks require extra 4 IPs each.
