These release notes apply to vCloud NFV 1.5.2 and cover the following topics:

What's New in this Release

VMware vCloud NFV is an ETSI compliant Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) platform for Communication Service Providers (CSPs) looking to radically reduce costs and increase service agility through a vSphere cloud-based network deployment.

The vCloud NFV platform enables a modular approach to NFV-based service deployment that is proven in production with CSPs globally, delivering the shortest time to value while ensuring investment protection. vCloud NFV 1.5.2 is the latest release of this solution based on the vSphere 6.0 platform and has the following changes; specifically, there are several critical security patches that are part of this release. These are identified under each of the product components below:

VMware ESXi 6.0 Update 3 (U3) includes multiple fixes to optimize I/O path for improved vSAN performance in All Flash and Hybrid configurations. See VMware ESXi 6.0 Update 3 Release Notes for more details.

VMware vSphere Replication 6.1.2 is compatible with VMware vSphere 6.0 Update 3 and provides a couple of new features. See VMware vSphere Replication 6.1.2 Release Notes for more details.

VMware vSphere Data Protection 6.1.4 provides support for vCenter Server 6.0 U3 and delivers new bug fixes. See VMware vSphere Data Protection 6.1.4 Release Notes for more details.

VMware vRealize Log Insight 3.6.0 includes new and enhanced features as well as preview features. See VMware vRealize Log Insight 3.6 Release Notes for more details.

VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.3.0 delivers product improvements and updates to Server Features, User Interface Features, and Agent Features. See VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.3 Release Notes for more details.

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.4 includes improvements in summary pages for key vSphere objects. There is also a public patch to address a security vulnerability documented in VMSA-2017-004. See vRealize Operations Manager 6.4 Release Notes for more details.

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.5 focuses on enhancing product scalability limits and troubleshooting capabilities, including:

  • Additional monitoring capabilities
  • Automatic upgrade of Endpoint Operations Agents
  • Enhanced troubleshooting capabilities
  • Improved collaboration

VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2.7 includes a number of critical bug fixes and security updates. For details, see the Resolved Issues in the NSX for vSphere 6.2.7 Release Notes.

NOTE: Upgrade from NSX 6.2.7 to NSX 6.3.0 or 6.3.1 is not supported. See VMware Product Interoperability Matrices for details about upgrade paths from VMware NSX.

VMware vCenter Server 6.0 U3b addresses an Apache BlazeDS security vulnerability documented in the Resolved Issues section of its Release Notes.

Resolved Issues

  • Host ping tests failing in NSX NGC plugin.

    Fix/Workaround: Fixed in NSX 6.2.7.

  • The Getting Started page displayed to the NSX Home view does not respond to the close button or Hide All Getting Started Pages menu action.

    Fix/Workaround: Fixed in NSX 6.2.7.

  • Anti-affinity rules not applied.

    Fix/Workaround: Fixed in NSX 6.2.7.

  • dvPortgroup is deleted, so vspan session configured with the deleted ports will not be deleted or edited afterwards.

    Fix/Workaround: Fixed in ESXi 6.0 U3.

  • ESG not started by HA After experiencing a vSphere High Availability (HA) event, these might be observed: the NSX Edge virtual machine does not failover to another ESXi host or the NSX Edge virtual machine is registered to the destination ESXi host but does not power on. Other virtual machines residing on the same ESXi host failover successfully.

    Fix/Workaround: Fixed in NSX 6.2.7.

Known Issues

  • Lack of upgrade from vCloud NFV 1.5.2 to vCloud NFV 2.0
    Due to upgrade path constraints for some components included in vCloud NFV 1.5.2 upgrading to vCloud NFV 2.0 is not possible at this time. Please consult the VMware Product Interoperability Matrices for details on supported upgrade paths.
  • VDP 6.1.4 Backup processes hanging for vSAN datastores
    Backup process may appear to stall out before completion. Upon examination, the backup process has crashed and the job must be cancelled.

    Workaround: Refer to KB 2149271 to get more details.
  • vSphere Replication 6.1.2 plugin fails to load in to the vSphere Web Client
    An error stack appears.

    Workaround: Refer to KB 2149560 to get more details.
