In the three-pod design, the VMware Integrated OpenStack Management Server (OMS) is used to instantiate the three-pod deployment of the VMware Integrated OpenStack management plane.

VMware Integrated OpenStack connects to the second vCenter Server instance that manages the Edge pod and the Resource pod. VMware Integrated OpenStack is also connected to the NSX Manager instance associated with the Edge pod to deploy the edge networking components for North-South connectivity.

As with the two-pod design, OMS can be used to deploy a compact instance of the VMware Integrated OpenStack management plane for cases where smaller footprint is required while all the functionality of the full deployment and high availability is not a requirement.

Further details about edge services and their consumption by tenants are described in the Secure Multitenancy section.
