You must activate your vRealize Cloud Universal licenses to perform the available license actions.

Prerequisites

Prior to applying a vRealize Cloud Universal license, you can choose one of the following options.

  • You can use an existing VMware Cloud Services Data Collector or you can perform a fresh VMware Cloud Services Data Collector installation to connect to your on-premise vRealize instances.

  • If you have an existing vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager, then you can apply the vRealize Cloud Universal licenses in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager. For more information, see Activating vRealize Cloud Universal Subscription Licenses.

Procedure

  1. Use your VMware Cloud administrator credentials and log in to the VMware Cloud Services console.
  2. Select Services, and then click the vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager service tile.
  3. From the left menu, click License Management.
  4. Choose your preferred option, and then click Apply License.
  5. Select your VMware Customer Connect credentials.

    If you want to add a new Customer Connect account, perform the following steps.

    • From the left menu, select Settings, and then select VMware Customer Connect.

    • Click ADD VMWARE CUSTOMER CONNECT.

    • Enter the username and password, and then click VALIDATE & SAVE.

    If you want to update an existing Customer Connect account, perform the following steps.

    • Select VMware Customer Connect , and then select the required account and click UPDATE.

    • Enter the username and password, and then click VALIDATE & SAVE.

    If you want to delete an existing Customer Connect account, ensure that the endpoint does not have any license associated with the Customer Connect account.

    Click Refresh to sync the vRealize Cloud Universal licenses from Customer Connect to vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager.

  6. Select the vRealize Cloud Universal license to activate your on-premise product and click NEXT.
  7. Select the Cloud Proxy and click Next.
    Note:

    Ensure that the status of the selected Cloud Proxy is active.

    If you want to add a Cloud Proxy, see Configuring a Cloud Proxy in vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager.

    If you want to use an existing Cloud Proxy available in the same organization under different cloud service, click EXISTING CLOUD PROXY and click ADD.

  8. Under Add Product, select the Product Type from the drop-down menu, and then select the Version.
  9. Enter the FQDN/IP Address.
  10. Based on the selected product, you can select the Admin Password or the Root Password.
  11. Select the check box to remove all the perpetual licenses from the selected product, if required.
  12. Click Validate & Add. When the validation is complete, click Next.

    Licenses existing on the product should belong only to the subscriptions redeemed in the current organisation. Ensure all the Customer Connect details in the current organization are added to the Settings page.

  13. You can validate the details and click Finish.

What to do next

You can view the new vRealize Cloud Universal on-premise licenses added in the License Management page. You can perform the following actions:

On the Product License card:

  • Click Refresh icon to sync with the product and retrieve the latest license details.
  • Click Details to view the license details.
