You can use VMware Skyline to discover on-premise products that are eligible for vRealize Cloud Universal Subscription licenses, onboard and activate, and monitor consumption of all your products using vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager.

Prerequisites

Note:

This release supports VMware vRealize Operations and VMware vRealize Automation 8.0 or later.

Procedure

  1. Go to Skyline Advisor and log in to Cloud Services. You can use your existing ‘Customer Connect’ credentials to log in to VMware Cloud Services. You do not need to create a new account.
  2. On the Dashboard, vRealize Cloud Universal Subscription activation message is displayed in the Notification panel. Click Getting Started.

    If you have not set up the billing information for your organization, perform the following steps:

    1. Click SET UP BILLING INFORMATION to add your billing information.

    2. On the VMware Cloud services, click Billing & Subscriptions > Manage Payment Method.

    3. Click Create Organization Profile. Enter the credit card information and click Complete.

  3. On the vRealize Cloud Universal License Managment page, click Accept and Proceed to provide your permission to share your data with vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager.
  4. Select the products for which you want to activate the license. You need to select atleast one product to proceed. Click Proceed.

    If you want to activate your vRealize Cloud Universal license, select listed vRealize Cloud Universal license.

  5. If you have not activated vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager in your organization, select the preferred Order ID. Skyline will set up the vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager service for you.
  6. A pop up window with success message is displayed. Click Go to vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager.

    You have been redirected to the License Management page in vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager. The details are prefilled and carried over from Skyline.

  7. If you have selected perpetual license in Step 4, perform the following steps.
    1. Under Add Customer Connect Details, enter your VMware Customer Connect password and click Validate & Add. If you are already added to vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager service, your Customer Connect username is auto-filled.
    2. Select the vRealize Cloud Universal license from the list and click Next.

      The list only displays licenses associated with subscriptions redeemed under the current organization and associated with the Customer Connect Account selected in the previous step.

    3. Select the Cloud Proxy and click Next.

      Ensure that the status of the selected Cloud Proxy is active.

      If you want to add a Cloud Proxy, see Configuring a Cloud Proxy in vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager.

      If you want to use an existing Cloud Proxy available in the same organization under different cloud service, click EXISTING CLOUD PROXY and click ADD.

    4. Under Add Product, enter the Root Password for your product and click Submit. The products are displayed based on the vRealize Cloud Universal License edition that you chose in the previous step.

      Based on the selected product, you can select the Admin Password or the Root Password.

    5. Select the check box to remove all the perpetual licenses from the selected product, if required.

      Licenses existing on the product should belong only to the subscriptions redeemed in the current organization. Ensure all the Customer Connect details in the current organization are added to the Settings page.

    6. Once the validation is successful, click Submit.
  8. If you have selected vRealize Cloud Universal License inStep 4, perform the following steps:
    1. Under Add Customer Connect Details, enter your VMware Customer Connect password and click Validate & Add. If you are already added to vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager service, your Customer Connect username is auto-filled.
    2. Select the Cloud Proxy and click Next.

      Ensure that the status of the selected Cloud Proxy is active.

      If you want to add a Cloud Proxy, see Configuring a Cloud Proxy in vRealize Cloud Subscription Manager.

      If you want to use an existing Cloud Proxy available in the same organization under different cloud service, click EXISTING CLOUD PROXY and click ADD.

    3. Verify the product details.

      Products are displayed based on the vRealize Cloud Universal license edition you previously selected.

      Licenses existing on the product should belong only to the subscriptions redeemed in the current organization.

    4. Based on the selected product, you can select the Admin Password or the Root Password.
    5. Select the check box to remove all the perpetual licenses from the selected product, if required.
    6. Once the validation is successful, click Submit.

      You can view the new vRealize Cloud Universal on-premise licenses added in the License Management page.

What to do next

You can check the status of your license on the License Managment page. You can perform the following actions:

On the Product License card:
  • Click Refresh icon to sync with the product and retrieve the latest license details.
  • Click Details to view the license activation details.
