Ensemble provides visibility into your hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure and the applications that run on that infrastructure. As an application-centric service, Ensemble automates the process of application discovery and then gives you the tools to refine the applications and monitor their status.
To use the integrated management, monitoring, and troubleshooting capabilities of Ensemble, you must be a vRealize Cloud Universal Enterprise Plus subscriber. Learn how to subscribe.
Ensemble components and integrations
Ensemble provides a single user interface that integrates existing management solutions to focus on application management. It also provides business insight analytics that help you keep your applications and the underlying infrastructure on which they run as healthy as possible.
What are applications
An application is a collection of business-defined infrastructure resources and services that operates as a business application. It is not the software or code that makes up a software application.
The resource collection can include, but is not limited to, virtual machines, firewalls, security rules, containers, pods of containers, disks and volumes, network segments, shared cloud native application services such as S3 or RDS, and owned enterprise services such as Active Directory.
Applications are discovered from vRealize Network Insight Cloud, based on the service's discovered or created applications. For more information, see Working with Applications in Using VMware vRealize Network Insight Cloud.
You can add or remove resources from discovered applications, assign the applications to projects, and respond if Ensemble indicates that attention is needed.
What are business insights
To facilitate management and monitoring, Ensemble collects VMware Cloud notifications,vRealize Network Insight Cloud events, and vRealize Operations Cloud alerts. The collected observations are compared to predefined business insight templates. If the comparison reveals that your attention is needed, the level of attention is indicated in the graph or list.
You can then investigate the identified problems and address them as part of your troubleshooting workflow.
