In vRealize Network Insight Cloud, you can use Federation to get an application centric network health and performance overview of multiple vRealize Network Insight Cloud instances. This page is available only for vRealize Cloud Universal subscription users.

Note: The Federation feature is available only on the Extra Large brick size deployments.

Add a Primary Federation Instance

You must set a vRealize Network Insight Cloud instance as a primary instance that will host the Federation page and configure peer instances that will send the data to this primary instance.

Prerequisites

To configure the primary instance, you must have the vRealize Cloud Universal subscription and the administrator privilege.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation panel on the left of the Homepage, click Settings > Infrastructure and Support.
  2. On the Infrastructure and Support page, Select the Federation tab.
  3. Click Configure to add the primary instance details.
    In the Configure Instance page, do the following:
    1. Mode: select the mode as Primary
    2. Nickname: Enter a nick name
    3. Location: Search by the city name or zip code and select the city to add it as the location
  4. Click Submit.
  5. In the Federation page, Click Add Peer and copy the contents of the shared secret.
    You will require this while configuring a peer instance of vRealize Network Insight.

Configure Peer Federation Instance

You can pair up to nine peer instances to a primary Federation instance. The peer instances can be of vRealize Network Insight Cloud, vRealize Network Insight, or both.

  2. On the Infrastructure and Support page, Select the Federation tab.
  3. Click Configure to add the peer instance details.
    In the Configure Instance page, do the following:
    1. Mode: select the mode as Peer
    2. Nickname: Enter a nick name
    3. Location: Search by the city name or zip code and select the city to add it as the location
    4. Shared Secret: Enter the shared secret that you have generated from the primary instance
  4. Click Submit.
