The Management Pack for Microsoft SQL Server creates Resource Kinds and Relationships (associations) for critical resources in your Microsoft SQL Server environment.
Resource Kinds
Performance, health, and availability data are collected for the following Microsoft SQL Server resource kinds:
- Microsoft SQL Server Instance
- Microsoft SQL Server Always On Availability Group
- Microsoft SQL Server Database
- Microsoft SQL Server Query
- Microsoft SQL Server Wait Type
Relationships
Relationships among discovered resources are also created by the Management Pack. The hierarchical structure of those relationships is depicted in the diagram below.

External Relationships
In addition to internal relationships, the Management Pack for Microsoft SQL Server also creates the following external relationships (shown above):
- Virtual Machine > MS SQL Server Instance
- Virtual Machine > MS SQL Always On Availability Group
