You can use your VMware Cloud account to log into both VMware Cloud and the vCenter. This allows VMware Cloud to honor the vCenter privileges for the logged in user.

You must add your VMware Cloud account to the VMwareID domain of the vCenter. You can add the VMware Cloud account to the VMwareID either under Users and Groups or the Global Permissions UI.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the vSphere Client with the user name and password for [email protected] or another member of the vCenter Single Sign-On Administrators group.
    If you specified a different domain during installation, log in as administrator@ mydomain.
  2. To add VMware Cloud account under Users and Groups:
    1. From the Home menu, select Administration.
    2. Under Single Sign On, click Users and Groups.
    3. Click Groups and click the group (for example, Administrators).
    4. Click Edit.
    5. Select VMwareID from the Add a member drop-down menu and then enter the name of the VMwareID (email address of the VMware Cloud Account) as a member to the administrators group.
    6. Click Add Member and Save.
  3. To add VMware Cloud account under Global Permissions:
    1. Under Access, click Global Permissions.
    2. Select VMwareID from the Domain drop-down menu, then enter the name of the VMwareID (email address of the VMware Cloud Account) in the User/Group field.
    3. Select the Propogate to children checkbox.
    4. Click Ok to save.

Results

The VMware Cloud user can perform operations in the vCenter from VMware Cloud Console.
