Test that the vCenter Server Appliance can successfully locate an Active Directory server for a given Active Directory domain.


  1. Log in to the vCenter Server Appliance Linux console as root.
  2. Look up the Service Location record (SVR) for the Active Directory domain by running the /opt/likewise/bin/lw-get-dc-name command.
    /opt/likewise/bin/lw-get-dc-name exampledomain.com
    The domain information, including the IP address of and Active Directory server is listed.
  3. Validate that the forward and reverse DNS entries for the listed Active Directory domain server's IP address are consistent.
