If you want to export a virtual machine as an OVF template, you can specify product information that becomes available when you deploy a new virtual machine from the OVF template.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to a virtual machine from the vCenter Server inventory.
  2. On the Configure tab, expand Settings and select vApp options.
  3. Click the Edit button.
    In the vSphere Client, the Edit vApp Options dialog box opens.

    In the vSphere Web Client, the Edit Settings dialog box opens.

  4. Enter product and vendor information.
    • In the vSphere Client, click the Details tab.
    • In the vSphere Web Client, expand Product in the Authoring section.
    vApp Setting Description
    Name Product name.
    Version vApp version. You can enter version information only in the vSphere Web Client.
    Full Version Full version of the vApp. You can enter version information only in the vSphere Web Client.
    Product URL If you enter a product URL, a user can click the product name on the virtual machine summary page and go to the product's web page.
    Vendor Vendor name.
    Vendor URL If you enter a vendor URL, a user can click the vendor name on the virtual machine summary page and go to the vendor's web page.
    Application URL From the vSphere Web Client and the vSphere Client, you can access the vApp summary page. The Summary page includes a Status panel that includes information about vApp state, for example Running or Stopped. If you enter a valid application URL, the virtual machine Status pane displays Available instead of Running. The Available text is also a link to the application URL.
    If you configure the virtual machine to use the property called webserver_ip and the virtual machine has a web server at the address represented by the property, you can enter http://${webserver_ip}/ as the Application URL.
  5. Click OK.
