Storage policies assigned to a namespace in a Supervisor make persistent storage available to the DevOps team. These storage policies control how persistent volumes and TKG cluster nodes are placed within vSphere datastores. As a vSphere administrator, you typically assign storage policies when configuring the namespace. If you need to make any changes in the initial storage policy assignments, perform this task.

Prerequisites

  • Before deleting a storage policy from VMware vCenter or a vSphere Namespace, or changing the storage policy assignment, make sure that no persistent volume claim with the corresponding storage class runs in the namespace. Also, ensure that no TKG cluster is using the storage class.
  • If the namespace is in a three-zone Supervisor, use topology aware policies. You cannot assign storage policies that are not topology aware to the three-zone namespace.

Procedure

  1. In the vSphere Client, navigate to the namespace.
    1. From the vSphere Client home menu, select Workload Management.
    2. Click the Namespaces tab and click the namespace.
  2. Click the Storage tab and click Storage Policies.
  3. Click the Edit icon to change storage policy assignments.
