With Converter Standalone, you can convert Amazon EC2 Windows instances to VMware virtual machines.
There are two ways to perform a conversion of an Amazon EC2 Windows virtual machine to a VMware virtual machine. You can either import the source virtual machine directly into an ESXi host that vCenter Server manages, or convert the Amazon EC2 Windows instance to a VMware Workstation virtual machine and then import it to a vSphere host.
Convert an Amazon EC2 Windows instance to a VMware virtual machine by using proxy mode
You can convert an Amazon EC2 Windows instance to a VMware virtual machine running on an ESXi host that vCenter Server manages by using the Converter Standalone proxy mode feature. The feature enables conversion of remote Windows machines that have no direct access to the destination ESXi server.
For more information on conversion of remote Windows sources, see Remote Hot Cloning of Powered Оn Source Machines That Are Running Windows.
