vCloud Usage Insight sends email notices about background processes running on vCloud Usage Meter instances that are registered for automatic reporting.

The email process notification might include information about the reporting status for a registered vCloud Usage Meter instance, an issue with a certificate or with the collection of a product consumption data, or information about issues with the vCloud Usage Meter appliance.

If you have issues with the registered vCloud Usage Meter instances, you receive an email notification that contains a summary of the issues encountered in the last 24 hours.

Important: vCloud Usage Insight sends email notifications for vCloud Usage Meter instances that are registered with Commerce Portal and are actively reporting the product consumption data to the cloud.

  • new product server is detected
  • an existing product server is updated

 In the vCloud Usage Meter Web interface, verify the product server certificate and accept it.
Product of Type product_type with ID product_ID: Failed to collect because of invalid credentials. Generated when:
  • the password for a metered product server is incorrect.
  • the user account associated with the metered product server is deleted.
 In the vCloud Usage Meter Web interface, provide valid credentials for the metered product server.
Product of Type product_type with ID product_ID: Failed to collect usage data because the connection to the server failed.   • Product of Type product_type with ID product_ID: An associated vCenter is not being metered.
  • Product of Type product_type with ID product_ID: An associated vCenter is not being metered or has not had its certificate accepted.
 Generated when vCloud Usage Meter cannot connect to a vCenter Server instance that is associated with the metered product server. In the vCloud Usage Meter Web interface, verify:
  • The vCenter Server instance is registered with vCloud Usage Meter.
  • The vCloud Usage Meter Web interface does not display any collection error messages about the specified vCenter Serverinstance.
Product of Type product_type with ID product_ID: Product added and requires user action in Usage Meter. Generated when:
  • vRealize Operations Manager is reactivated.
  • vCloud Usage Meter detects new vRealize Operations Manager.
 In the vCloud Usage Meter Web interface, provide valid credentials for the metered vRealize Operations Manager product server.
  • Product of Type product_type with ID product_ID: Collection error.
  • Product of Type product_type with ID product_ID: Product collection failed.
