To enable the domain separation, activate the “Domain Support - Domain Extensions Installer” and “Service Catalog - Domain Separation” plugins.
Prerequisites
You must be the system administrator.
Procedure
- In the Filter Navigator, search for Plugins.
- On the All Applications page, select Request Plugin to open the Now Support request form.
- In the Now Support form, select the link to access the Now Support Service Portal service catalog.
- Select your instance.
- Select Actions> Activate Plugin. The Activate Plugin request form will be displayed.
Note:
Ensure that only after activating one plugin, you can activate the other plugin.
- Provide the Target instance and enter the Plugin name.
- Click Submit. The plugin will be activated.
Note:
The purpose of activating the “Service Catalog - Domain Separation” (second Plugin) is as follows:
Isolates catalog items to requesters in a specific domain.
Makes catalog items unavailable for request in any other domain irrespective of the domain hierarchy. (Parent-child) If the Service Catalog has already been domain separated as a custom solution, then activating the "Service Catalog - Domain Separation" plugin may override the existing behavior to enforce the plugin-specific isolation.
Users can request catalog items of their domain as well as the global domain. Please note if the catalog item is created in a specific domain, users can browse, search, and make requests only in that domain and not in the peer domains, child domains, or parent domains irrespective of the hierarchy and visibility of the domains.
