To enable workload placement, there are steps to take for vSphere, vRealize Operations Cloud, and vRealize Automation Cloud.

  1. Make sure that vRealize Operations Cloud is one of the service cards to which you have access under My Services.
    vROps Card

When the card is present, integration is automatic, but you can verify that it exists in Cloud Assembly under Infrastructure > Connections > Integrations.

  2. Make sure that vRealize Operations Cloud can access the same cloud account as Cloud Assembly.

If necessary, import Cloud Assembly cloud accounts. In vRealize Operations Cloud, go to Administration > Solutions > Cloud Accounts, and click Import Accounts.

  3. In Cloud Assembly, connect to your vCenter Server cloud account.

The options are under Infrastructure > Connections > Cloud Accounts.

  4. In vCenter Server, verify that DRS enabled clusters exist and are set to fully automated.
  5. In vRealize Operations Cloud, verify that the same vCenter Server is being managed.
  6. In Cloud Assembly, create a cloud zone for the vCenter Server account.

The options are under Infrastructure > Configure > Cloud Zones.

  7. Under the cloud zone Summary tab, set the Placement Policy to ADVANCED.
  8. Under the Placement Policy, select whether to have vRealize Automation Cloud fall back to its default placement if vRealize Operations Cloud returns no recommendations.
