You can configure a SaltStack Config integration to access the SaltStack Config service and use SaltStack Config objects and actions in vRealize Automation Cloud.

With vRealize Automation SaltStack Config, you can provision, configure, and deploy software to your virtual machines at any scale using event-driven automation. You can also use SaltStack Config to define and enforce optimal, compliant software states across your entire environment.

Considerations

Integrated SaltStack Config is available for vRealize Automation Cloud with the following conditions:

  • Only one SaltStack Config integration is available per organization.

  • The vRealize Automation Cloud tenant can only support one Salt master. The Salt master can support multiple minions.

Prerequisites

Configure a SaltStack Config integration in vRealize Automation Cloud

vRealize Automation Cloud automatically discovers and adds the SaltStack Config integration if the organization is subscribed to the SaltStack Config service. After the integration is added, you can configure the integration in Cloud Assembly.

  1. In Cloud Assembly, select Infrastructure > Connections, and click Integrations.
  2. Open the existing SaltStack Config integration.

If you have not configured a running environment for the integration, you will see the following warning message.

  3. Complete the form.

    1. (Optional) Change the name for the integration.

By default, the name for the integration is SaltStack-Config-organization-name.

    2. (Optional) Provide a description for the integration.
    3. Specify the running environment for the SaltStack Config integration.

The running environment must be a cloud extensibility proxy.

    4. Click Validate to confirm your administrator access to the SaltStack Config service.

If validation fails, make sure you selected the correct running environment.

    5. Click Save.

Access your SaltStack Config integration

After you save your changes to the SaltStack Config integration point, you can open the SaltStack Config service.

  1. Click the service tile from the vRealize Automation Cloud Service Console to open SaltStack Config.
