This section provides instructions to install and configure the vRealize Hyperic agent and the WebSphere agent.

About this task

Perform these steps on each platform with WebSphere instances to be monitored.

Procedure

  1. Configure the vRealize Hyperic agent to use the WebSphere JDK.
  2. Define the JAVA_HOME as an environment variable.

    My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables > System Variables > New

  3. Install Hyperic agent.

    For agent installation instructions, to Install an Agent-Only Package in Getting Started with vRealize Hyperic.

    1. If WebSphere Global Security is defined, install the agent under an account that has read-access to WASinstallpath}/properties/ssl.client.props. Make sure the following properties in ssl.client.props are specified correctly:
      com.ibm.ssl.keyStore 
      com.ibm.ssl.keyStorePassword 
      com.ibm.ssl.trustStore 
      com.ibm.ssl.trustStorePassword
  4. Configure WebSphere-related agent properties in AgentHome/conf/agent.properties.

    Option

    Description

    websphere.installpath

    This property is used to define the WebSphere installation path.

    websphere.useext

    For WebSphere 6.0 or 6.1 you must set this property to "true".

  5. Start the agent.

    The WebSphere instance should be discovered and appear in the Auto-Discovery portlet.
