Using the base rate analysis dashboard, you can identify the cost efficiency of your cloud infrastructure. The Average Cost per VM is derived by considering the cost of all VMs in your environment. Cost of every VM depends on the base rate of the cluster it is placed on and its own utilization. Base rate of the cluster is computed based on the Total Cost of Ownership and the expected utilization levels of the cluster. Storage base rates are directly obtained from cost drivers.

You can compare your investment against unit rates. For example, the total cost for CPU base rate means the total cost invested to get the CPUs in a cluster versus the cost associated to deploy a unit of CPU on the same cluster.

Memory Base Rate Analysis This widget lets you compare the memory base rate cost with the following values:
  • Total Memory Cost (Demand)
  • Expected Utilization (Demand)
  • Total Memory Cost (Allocation)
  • Current Overcommit Ratio (Allocation)
Datastore Base Rate Analysis This widget lets you compare the datastore base rate cost with the following values:
  • Total Datastore Cost (Demand)
  • Total Datastore Cost (Allocation)
You can use the following four reports to focus on the cost associated with your cloud infrastructure:
  • Cluster Cost Report - Use this report to know the total investment on the cluster, the characteristics of the cluster, which datastore the cluster belongs to, and the total capacity of the number of hosts.
  • Datastore Cost Report - Use this report to know the total datastore capacity, to which data center the datastore belongs, and the total cost associated with the datastore.
  • Server Cost Report - Use this report to know the cost associated with the host, model of the host, and total capacity of the host.
  • Virtual Machine Cost Report - Use this report to know the cost associated with the virtual machine, total capacity of the virtual machine, and to which datastore the virtual machine belongs.
