vRealize Operations uses collectors to manage adapter processes such as gathering metrics from objects. You can select a collector or a collector group when configuring an adapter instance.
If there are remote collectors or cloud proxies in your environment, you can create a collector group, and add the remote collectors or cloud proxies to the group. When you assign an adapter to a collector group, the adapter can use any collector in the group. Use collector groups to achieve adapter resiliency in cases where the collector experiences network interruption or becomes unavailable. If this occurs, and the collector is part of a group, the total workload is redistributed among all the collectors in the group, reducing the workload on each collector.
