Installation and Upgrade

For the supported upgrade paths for vSphere Replication, select Upgrade Path and VMware vSphere Replication in the VMware Product Interoperability Matrices.

You use the ISO file and the VRMS Appliance Management Interface to upgrade from vSphere Replication 8.2.x or 8.3.x to vSphere Replication 8.4.0.x.

If you are running vSphere Replication 8.4, upgrade to vSphere Replication 8.4.0.6. See Upgrading vSphere Replication in the VMware vSphere Replication Administration 8.4 for instructions about upgrading vSphere Replication.

If you use vSphere Replication with Site Recovery Manager 8.4.0.x, upgrade the vSphere Replication appliance to version 8.4.0.6. See the Site Recovery Manager 8.4.0.6 Release Notes for information about Site Recovery Manager 8.4.0.6.

Note: If you are upgrading from vSphere Replication 8.2.x or 8.3.x, you must configure a password for the admin account. See Step 12 of the procedure in Upgrade vSphere Replication Appliance.

Resolved Issues

• NEW After deploying the vSphere Replication appliance by using an OVF template, all the network information is missing

  When you power on the vSphere Replication appliance after deploying it by using an OVF template, all the network information is missing and you receive a ‘NO NETWORKING DETECTED’ error.

  This issue is resolved in vSphere Replication 8.4.0.6

• NEW The vSphere Replication appliance runs out of space on the heap dump partition

  When you execute a Site Recovery Manager test failover, the vSphere Replication appliance runs out of space on the heap dump partition.

  This issue is resolved in vSphere Replication 8.4.0.6.
