每個 vCenter Server Appliance 執行個體都必須擁有自己的資料庫。vCenter Server Appliance 隨附的配套 PostgreSQL 資料庫可支援最多 2,000 台主機和 35,000 台虛擬機器。
若要確保您的資料庫已準備妥當可進行移轉，請：
- 確認密碼是最新的，沒有設定為即將到期。
- (選擇性) 減少資料庫大小。如需詳細資訊，請參閱 http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2110031。
- 針對 vCenter Server 5.5，使用適用於您資料庫的步驟來執行清理指令碼，以移除 vCenter Server 資料庫中所有不需要的資料。如需詳細資料，請參閱：

在從 vCenter Server 移轉至 vCenter Server Appliance 期間，安裝程式會：
- 匯出 vCenter Server 資料庫。
- 部署未設定狀態下的目標 vCenter Server Appliance。
- 將匯出的資料複製到目標 vCenter Server Appliance。
- 啟動 PostgreSQL 服務以匯入來源資料庫資料。
- 升級資料庫架構以與目標 vCenter Server Appliance 相容。
- 啟動目標 vCenter Server Appliance 服務。
設定目標 vCenter Server Appliance 時，可以使用已匯入的具有舊架構的資料庫來進行初始化及設定。您可以選擇移轉選項：
- 詳細目錄資料表
- 含事件與工作的詳細目錄資料表
- 所有資料庫資料
