You can take a backup of the database, appliance information, daemon.json file, introspection custom collector scripts and restore on a new appliance.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have the required permissions. For more information, see Overview Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu Roles.

Procedure

  1. To take the backup,
    1. Navigate to the top right corner and click on the user name.
    2. Go to Administration.
    3. Click Appliance Lifecycle.
    4. On the Backup and Restore tab, click the Take Backup option.
The backup task triggers and when the process completes successfully, you see an entry in the list of backups.
Note: The backup files contains the build number, which you can use for restoring the appliance.
  2. To download the backup file, select a file from the list, and click Download.
You can use the downloaded backup file to restore into a new deployed appliance.
  3. To delete a specific backup file, select the file from the list and click Delete.
Note: You cannot restore the deleted backup files.
  4. To restore a backup file,
    1. Click Restore.
    2. Choose a backup file that you downloaded.
      Note:
      • The new deployed appliance must have the same OVF parameters. Only the Network properties can differ.
      • This new deployed appliance must have the same build number and version as the appliance from where backup is taken.
      • If you restore on an existing appliance, you will lose previous data and can see only the backup data.
    3. Provide the encryption password of the previous appliance from where backup is taken.
    4. Click Upload.
When the restore task completes successfully, the new appliance will be ready to use with the backup data by removing the previous data on the appliance.
