Data Management for VMware Tanzu allows you to configure Log Forwarding for the Provider VM, Agent VM, and provisioned databases. For Log Forwarding, as a Provider Administrator, you can either configure a Syslog server, a vRealize Log Insight agent, or Elastic Search.
You can also generate on-demand logs for the Provider VM, Agent VM and provisioned databases.
Logs can be analysed to improve productivity of the system, deduce trends, or to troubleshoot, as required.

To enable Log Forwarding, perform the following steps:
Log in to the Data Management for VMware Tanzu console as a Provider Administrator.
Select Settings from the left navigation pane.
This action displays the Information tab in the Settings view.
Click the Log Forwarding tab in the Settings view, and then click EDIT.
Toggle Log Forwarding from OFF to ON, and then for Log Forwarding, select Elastic Search or Syslog in the Log Server Setting form.
Set the other values in the Log Server Setting form, and then click SAVE.
To deactivate Log Forwarding, perform the following steps:
Log in to the Data Management for VMware Tanzu console as a Provider Administrator.
Select Settings from the left navigation pane.
This action displays the Information tab in the Settings view.
Click the Log Forwarding tab in the Settings view, and then click EDIT.
Toggle Log Forwarding from ON to OFF, and then click UPDATE in the Log Server Setting form.
