VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for Horizon | 27 Jan 2022 | Build 19242915 |
What's in the Release Notes
The release notes cover the following topics:Introduction
With the vRealize Operations Management Pack for Horizon, you can monitor the performance and capacity of the remote desktops and applications in the data center and managed services of Horizon.
vRealize Operations Management Pack for Horizon includes a broad set of simple to use but customizable dashboards to get you started with monitoring your VMware Horizon environment. Each set of dashboards is complemented with a series of out-of-the-box customizable alerts to further assist with your operational awareness. Each has a purpose and there is minimal overlap, as they form one continuum. It’s a way for the system to communicate with the user. Tasks that are performed through alerts, should be done through the dashboard to avoid Alert Storm. Reports should be kept minimal as they are not interactive and the information is not timely
What's New
- Support for Universal Access Gateway
- Support for new metrics for user-based capacity model
- Support for computing performance KPI from 20 seconds peak monitoring metrics

- Configuration of Telegraf Agent monitoring for Connection Server and UAG
Compatibility
For compatibility between products, please refer to the VMware Product Interoperability Matrices.
Resolved Issues
- The objects in the Horizon adapter changes to the old data receiving state.
This issue has been resolved.
- MP4H fails to collect data due to java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException.
This issue has been resolved.
- MP4H data collection fails due to a case mismatch between provided Host URL and internal CS FQDN.
This issue has been resolved.
- MP4H metrics are not accurate when there is an Unmanaged Desktop pool with sessions.
This issue has been resolved.
- Helpdesk API Failures: Separating out collector timeouts and creating additional flags on the UI turns off certain metrics at runtime.
This issue has been resolved.
- ArrayIndexOutOfBounds Exception in VDIPool Metric Processor and RDS Farm Metric Processor.
This issue has been resolved.
- EventDB response time affects the duration of MP4H data collection.
This issue has been resolved.
Known Issues
- Duplicated Objects and Relations found in the Traversal spec when a vCenter is mapped to 2 different Horizon Pods.
If a vCenter server is shared across multiple Horizon Pods:
- The adapter does not support the configuration
- The computed metrics are wrongly calculated due to shared relations
- Related Objects are duplicated under both pods
- Traversal spec duplicates child objects under both pods
None
- Issues observed on Summary page of the Horizon adapter objects
In the Summary page of the Application Pool object based on RDS Farms, the performance widget is always empty. The summary page always shows 'No Data to display', for all the Application Pool objects. Whereas, the data is correctly displayed for Application Pools based on the VDI Pool.
None
- Issues observed on DashBoard and Summary pages of the Horizon adapter objects.
The Dashboard and Summary page of the Horizon adapter objects, shows No Data to display. For troubleshooting steps refer to https://docs.vmware.com/en/Management-Packs-for-vRealize-Operations-Manager/1.2.1/Horizon/GUID-7899E44D-E757-42F4-86EE-8B59E46F52B9.html
- Performance KPI metrics are not populated.
Performance KPI metrics are not populated in the Horizon Management Pack if:
- The underlying vCenter infrastructure is hosted on AVS or GCVE
- The ESXi version is less than 6.7u1.
- The VMware tool version is less than 10.3.5
- The metrics are not enabled in the default policy of the vCenter adapter
Use VM Tools 10.3.0 on ESXi 6.7u1 and later.
- The metric 'Number of Sessions' is displayed as 0.
The metric 'Number of Sessions' is displayed as 0 at Horizon Pod level.
Follow the below steps:
- Navigate to Administration -> Redescribe.
- Under Adapters Info, click Vmware Horizon Adapter
- Click 'Redescribe'.
- Click 'Yes' on the pop-up dialog "Do you want to revert adapter content settings to their default values?".
- The message "Redescribe operation completed successfully" is displayed.
- Metrics on POD Level are getting repeated in a single collection.
The following metrics are getting repeated in a single collection:
- summary|vdiPoolCount
- summary|rdsDesktopPoolCount
- summary|applicationPoolCount
None
- Metrics have multiple data points in a single collection.
The following metrics are found to have multiple data points in a single collection:
- vdiPoolCount
- rdsDesktopPoolCount
- applicationPoolCount
None
- Summary dashboard of cloud pod federation object has an empty widget with title 'Unified Access gateway'.
This issue occurs because the cloud pod federation has no relation with the UAG.
Remove the widget.
- Telegraf installation for UAG servers with version 21 and above fails.
Telegraf installation for UAG servers with version 21 and above fails and the client receives SOAP fault from server.
As a pre-requisite, add a "tmp" folder with "exec" permission. Use the following command and retry installation.
<mount -o remount, exec /tmp> - UAG views are missing after upgrading the setup to the latest build and some views are not displayed after fresh installation.
The message "The view does not exist" is displayed for some of the Out of the Box dashboard widgets.
Refer to the KB article, for the workaround steps.
