Before you can begin using the Management Pack, you must create an adapter instance to identify the host from which the Management Pack will retrieve data.

Procedure

  1. From the top navigation bar, select Administration. In the right panel, the Solutions list will be displayed.
  2. Select Dell EMC Compute from the Solutions list on the right.
  3. Click the Configureconfigure_icon icon. The Manage Solution window will appear.

  4. In the Manage Solution window, enter the following information:

    1. Instance Settings:

      • Display Name: A name for this particular instance of the Management Pack

      • Description: Optional, but it can be helpful to describe multiple instances of the Management Pack.

    2. Basic Settings:

      • Managment IP: The Management Pack supports the following host formats:

        • Individual hostname or IP address (IPv4/IPv6 are supported)

        • IP range (e.g., 192.168.0.32-192.168.0.67, 10.10.01.0-10.10.0.254)

          NOTE:Test Connection

        • IP CIDR notation range (e.g., 10.6.14.0/24, 2620:0:2d0:200:1f00:400::7/120)

        • Any of the above in a comma-separated list

          Note:

          If the IP range for your Chassis Monitoring Console (CMC) is different than that of your iDRAC, you must list it separately here to return chassis metrics.

    3. Advanced Settings:

      • Collectors/Groups: Default Collector/Group is automatically selected. Click the drop-down menu if you want to run the collection on a different node.

      • SNMP Port: Enter the UDP port to connect to SNMP; default port is 161.

      • Retries: Enter the number of times you want the adapter to retry to connect to the specified host before the SNMP request times out; default value is 2 retries.

      • Timeout Interval:Enter the maximum amount of time (seconds) for the adapter to wait to timeout when trying to connect to the specified host; default value is 30 seconds.

      • Socket Timeout Interval (Seconds): Specify the maximum amount of time (seconds) for the adapter to wait for an incoming socket connection; default value is 2 seconds. Note that a timeout of 0 is interpreted as an infinite timeout.

      • Discovery Timeout Interval (s): Enter the maximum amount of time (seconds) to wait for discovery to complete against a given system; default value is 120 seconds.

      • Collection Timeout Interval (s): Enter the maximum amount of time (seconds) to wait for collection to complete against a given system; default value is 180 seconds.

      • Maximum Threads: Enter the maximum number of concurrent threads that the adapter instance can use to retrieve metrics from the specified targets; default value is 30. Note that this setting is for total synchronous SNMP calls to each server, not concurrent calls to the same server.

      • Include SNMP Events (v3 only): Specify whether the adapter should pass alerts retrieved from the SNMP alert table; default value is false.

      • Alert Cancel Hours: Specify the maximum age (in hours) for SNMP alerts; default value is 24 hours.

      • Support Autodiscovery: Default setting is True, which allows the adapter instance to create resources for you. This should not be set to False.

        Important:

        In order to maintain a consistent collection interval of five minutes, it is recommended that an adapter instance collects on no more than 16 total blade or rack servers. For a collection interval value of ten minutes, we recommend that your adapter instance collects on no more than 32 blade/rack servers.

  5. Click Test Connection to test the configured connection information. If you encounter any errors, see: Troubleshooting the Management Pack (Dell EMC PowerEdge).
  6. Click Save Settings and Close to save your adapter instance.
