Packages can be moved from one application to another. When similar package requirements across applications exist, you can use the package move functionality in App Volumes Manager.

When you move a package which has an assigned entity, the entity also moves to the target application.

To understand how package move impacts a target App Volumes instance in an application synchronization setup, see Impact on the Target Instance Due to Application Synchronization.

Ensure that the package you want to move has no CURRENT marker.

If the package has a CURRENT marker, you must first unset the marker and then move the package. To unset a marker, see Unset the CURRENT Marker on an App Volumes Application Package.

  1. From App Volumes Manager, go to INVENTORY > Packages.
  2. Click the package you want to move.
  3. Click Move.
If the version you are moving is the only version of the previous application, you can delete the application if you want to.
  4. Select the application that you want to move the package to from the Application drop-down menu.

If there are assignments for the package you are moving, the assignments are listed.

Only applications managed by this instance are eligible for the move operation and hence are listed in the drop-down menu. Applications that are managed by a source instance are not listed.

  5. Click Move.
  6. (Optional) On the Delete Application window, click Delete.
If the package you want to move is the only package of the previous application, then you can delete the application. Deleting the application also results in deleting the assignments to the application.

What to do next

Navigate to the application to which you moved the package and review the package information.
