When you perform an application discovery using tags, names, ServiceNow, flows, or advanced properties, VMware Aria Operations for Networks displays all the discovered applications that match the criteria in a table view and a map view. You can save one or more applications from the map view or the table view.

You can choose to save a single application, or save multiple applications in the tabular view.

Prerequisites

Ensure you have already discovered applications in VMware Aria Operations for Networks.

Procedure

  1. Select the applications you want to save.
    • On the tabular view, select SAVE next to the application that you want to save.
    • On the tabular view, select the application that you want to save and click ACTIONS > SAVE.
    • To save multiple applications, on the tabular view, select the check box next to the applications you want to save and click ACTIONS > SAVE.
    • On the map view, hover the mouse on a hexagon and click Save Application.
  2. In the Save Application window, validate the information or modify the existing information such as application name, tier name, or tier members.
  3. If you modify the members of the tier, click Update view to update the view and analyse the latest flows.

The micro-segmentation wheel shows the updated view of the application.

  4. Click Save.

What to do next

View details of the application by navigating to the application page. To learn more, see Viewing Application Details.

Or, click Actions > Export as CSV to export the application details in the .csv format.

You can define the application count and the fields that you want to export. The application name and the tier name fields are repeated based on the member count (one row per member). The fields that are irrelevant to the application are left empty.

Note: You can export the details of applications discovered through flows and ServiceNow to the .csv format without saving the applications.
