You can manually create an application in the VMware Aria Operations for Networks user interface.
Procedure
- On the left navigation pane, click .
- In the Application Name text box, enter a name for the application you want to create.
- In the Tier/Deployment section, enter a unique name.
- In the Member field, perform the following steps:
- Select a condition from the drop-down menu to create a tier.
You can define a condition based on any of the following properties:
- VM properties
- Location of VMs (application, cluster, folders).
- Kubernetes services (service name, cluster IP address, namespace, cluster IP, or service labels).
To learn more about the supported properties while defining a condition, see List of Supported Properties.
To create tiers for the physical IPs based on enriched DNS, Subnet, or VLAN, see Creating Tiers for Physical IPs.
To search a specific Kubernetes service that has the same name, same IP, or the same tag in multiple clusters, use custom search.
- Enter or select the value that you want to add to the tier.
For entering multiple values, use comma after individual values.
- (Optional) To add another condition, click Add another Condition.
- (Optional) To create another tier under an application, click Add Tier/Deployment.
You can create multiple tiers for an application.
The application creates the tiers and shows the count of VMs, physical IPs, and Kubernetes services matching the conditions.
- To receive alerts on intent violations, select the Enable Application Aware Network Health Intents check box.
The system monitors the network health of the application and generates alerts if the application health intents are violated.
- (Optional) To preview the flow analysis, on the Preview Micro-Segments widget, click Update view.
You see the micro-segment view for the application.
- Click Save.
