Using VMware Aria Operations for Networks, you can assess your on-premise environment for application migration to VMware Cloud (VMC).

Steps Procedure Description
Step 1 Setting up your Environment
  • Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA).
    1. Create a VMware user account or log in to the VMware account.
    2. Update the registration form.

      New users will receive an email to activate their account.

    3. Accept the VMware terms and EULA.
  • Download the OVA files.
    1. Log in to the VMware Product Download page at https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/home.
    2. Search for VMware Aria Operations for Networks.
    3. Download the latest VMware Aria Operations for Networks platform and collector OVA files.
  • Prepare for installation.
    1. Verify the System Recommendations and Requirements
    2. Verify the Supported products and versions
Step 2 Deployment
  1. Deploy the VMware Aria Operations for Networks platform OVA file
  2. Activate the License
  3. Generate a shared secret
  4. Deploy the VMware Aria Operations for Networks collector OVA file
  5. Deploy VMware Cloud (VMC)
Step 3 Data Source Addition
  1. Log in to VMware Aria Operations for Networks.
  2. Add VMC vCenter
  3. Add NSX Manager
  4. (Optional) Add VMware HCX
Note:

VMware Aria Operations for Networks automatically detects if you are in the process of migrating your data center using VMware HCX and generates notifications to guide you in the following scenarios:

  • Adding cloud data sources.
  • Gaining visibility of your hybrid cloud environments.
  • Monitoring your cloud workloads.
  • Gaining visibility of your migrated workloads.

You can click the links on the notifications to add your cloud data sources, access your on-premises and cloud environments, or gain network visibility.
