In VMware Aria Operations for Networks, you can get an end to end visibility of your applications, where you create applications, set threshold metrics, view flows in and out of applications, view detailed physical path, and even troubleshoot any problem or incident.
After you have added all your data sources, let's explore how you can manage and troubleshoot your application in more details:
Goal | Description | Actions |
---|---|---|
Create Application | After you add your data sources, you can either discover your application or create/define applications. |
|
Add threshold analytic to monitor application performance | To know when the network performance of an application drops below certain threshold, you can add threshold limit to your applications. For example, you can set a threshold for round-trip time (RTT) in your application. Whenever, the RTT cross the threshold, you get an alert. |
To learn how to configure threshold, see Configure Thresholds and Alerts. |
Search for flows to view network routing and flows details | When you get a threshold violation alerts, you can search for the flows to understand more details about the flow and to track the network path. | To learn about search queries, see Working with Search Queries. |
See VM-VM path | When you search for flow and click on the flows that you like to view, a dashboards opens. You can view VM-VM path and VM underlay path to understand the flow better. | To learn about VM-VM path, see Viewing VM-VM Path Topology. |
Open Network Map | To see the detailed physical path, you can go to the Network Map page and use the path search option. The path details give you an idea of what components in the path need further investigation. |
To learn about the Network Map and path search, see Working with Network Map. |
Troubleshoot an incident | After you have an idea what could be the problem, you can open a troubleshooting incident which will guide you to further investigate and find the route cause of your problem. | To learn about troubleshooting incident, see Working with Guided Network Troubleshooting |
