You must backup the App Control Server database before running the server installer to do an upgrade. Some failures of the database portion of the server upgrade are non-recoverable, and if you haven’t backed up recently, you will lose data.
Carbon Black recommends that you use your own backup mechanism to back up the App Control database. However, if you have not backed up the database and need to use the built-in mechanism, go to the Advance Options tab on the App Control Console System Configuration page and enable backups.
System Backup does not backup IIS certificates. Please do a separate backup of IIS certificates. Store the backups on a system other than the App Control Server.
If you used the App Control (Bit9) backup mechanism, imported server certificates signed by a certificate authority are included in the backup. Self-signed certificates are not, and backups of self-signed certificates are of limited value.
