The VMware Carbon Black team is pleased to announce the general availability of the Carbon Black EDR Linux Sensor 7.1.0 for On-prem Carbon Black EDR customers. Carbon Black EDR Linux 7.1.0 will be released to Carbon Black Hosted EDR customers on 6 March 2022, packaged with the release of VMware Carbon Black EDR Server 7.6.2.

This is a feature release that delivers:

  • Use of the CBC Linux Sensor kernel module
  • CBdaemon is refactored to use the BPF event collector application used by the CBC Linux Sensor
  • An increased level of detail is captured by sensor diagnostics to include PID smaps, iostat (CPU & I/O utilization), and network interface configuration, for the purposes of gaining additional problem-case insight in an ongoing effort to reduce memory and CPU utilization footprint
  • Updated to use libcurl 7.78.0 for improved library security
  • Improved memory and CPU performance
  • A digital signature for the EDR Linux Binary and Installer
  • RHEL 8.5 support
  • Bug fixes
