This section details the required components, supported Python versions and operating systems you must configure and deploy before you can install the VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension server successfully on VMware Cloud Director. You can use existing resources from your VMware Cloud Director or create new parameters.

An organization

Set up an organization in VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension.

A virtual data center (VDC) within the organization

  • An organization VDC network that has Internet connectivity. This is necessary to allow cluster VMs to download packages during configuration. It can be directly connected organization VDC network or a routed organization VDC network with a source network address translation (SNAT) rule that allows VMs connected to the network access to outside world.

  • Ability to host vApps

  • Sufficient storage to create vApps for Native template publishing.

VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension Service Account Role

This role has VMware Cloud Director rights that VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension server requires to function.

Network connectivity

Network connectivity between the machine where VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension is installed, the VMware Cloud Director server, and the Internet. This avoids intermittent failures in OVA upload and download operations.
