To configure VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions, you must complete the initial setup and then publish a data solution to the tenant organizations. Once you publish the solution, the tenant organizations can start creating instances from the tenant portal.

Set up VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions

Note: If your cluster has public network access, you can skip steps 1 and 2.

Prerequisites

For VMware Data Solutions, log in to the VMware Tanzu Network portal and accept the EULA of the data solution products, for example, VMware RabbitMQ, VMware SQL with MySQL, and so on.

Procedure

  1. Manually copy the VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions Operator package images from the VMware Harbor Registry to the internal OCI registry.
    The package location is projects.registry.vmware.com/vcdds/vcd-data-solutions-package-repo:<v.v.v>.
  2. Manually copy the package images from the VMware Tanzu Network to the internal OCI registry.
  3. Configure the registry credentials and repository addresses from the portal.

Publish solutions to tenant organizations

Prerequisites

Verify that you have configured VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions and have an identified solution. See Set up VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the VMware Cloud Director service provider admin portal.
  2. From the top navigation bar, select More > Data Solutions.
  3. In the Publish Solutions to Tenants section, click Start.
  4. Select a data solution and click Next.
  5. If you selected Confluent Platform in the previous step, select the Confluent Platform type, and click Next.
  6. Select the tenant organizations to which you want to publish the solution and click Publish.
    You can filter specific tenants by clicking the filter icon.

Tenant users can start creating instances of the data solution.
