You can configure VMware Cloud Flex Storage to send email alerts to users in your organization.

Users you add to the email alerts list receive email notifications when a status changes and for datastore operations such as creating or deleting a datastore, or mounting and unmounting a datastore from a cluster.

Email alerts are also sent when storage capacity becomes low:
  • If a datastore storage capacity is =< 85%, status changes from good to warning.
  • If a datastore storage capacity is =< 90%, status changes from warning to critical.

VMware Cloud Flex Storage uses the AWS mail service for email notifications. Recipients of these emails must respond to the AWS Email Address Verification Request before getting email from VMware Cloud Flex Storage alerts.

Procedure

  1. From the left navigation, select Settings.
  2. Click the Email alerts button.
  3. Under Email alert recipients, type an email address and then click the Add button. Each user added here receives an email verification link from AWS that they must click to validate their email address. After verifying their email address with AWS, users can start receiving alert emails from VMware Cloud Flex Storage.
  4. Under the Email alert sender section, select a sender email address.
  5. You can optionally add a Sender name for the emails.
Configure email alerts for VMware Cloud Flex Storage dialog box
  6. Click OK.
