What's New November 21, 2023

In a VMware Cloud Foundation 5.0 instance, you can now connect up to 16 workload domains to the cloud including the management domain. By default, a VMware Cloud Gateway instance can be connected to up to eight workload domains. To learn more about how to extend the limit of eight cloud-connected workload domains to 16 workload domains, see VMware Knowledge Base article 89558.

What's New August 17, 2023

  • VMware Cloud Foundation+ supports VMware Cloud Foundation 4.5.2. For information on the updates and software components in this VMware Cloud Foundation version, see VMware Cloud Foundation 4.5.2 Release Notes.

  • With VMware Cloud Foundation 4.5.2, a VMware Cloud Foundation instance can be in mixed licensing mode. You can mix workload domains with key-based and keyless licensing.

You use the management components for the management domain and individual workload domains under a VMware Cloud subscription based on keyless licensing. Assigning license keys to the management components for these workload domains or switching the entire deployment back to key-based licensing mode is not supported. See Billing and Licensing in the VMware Cloud Foundation+ Guide.

A VMware Cloud Foundation instance in mixed licensing mode can have up to eight workload domains, including the management domain, even though some of them might be in key-based licensing mode.

What's New August 10, 2023

  • In a VMware Cloud Foundation 5.0 deployment, by default, you can connect up to eight workload domains to the cloud including the management domain. You cannot raise this limit.

  • In a VMware Cloud Foundation 5.0 deployment, you either associate all the infrastructure with a keyless subscription or you use perpetual or term license keys for the individual VMware products.

VMware Cloud Foundation+ is compatible with VMware Cloud Foundation 4.5.x and VMware Cloud Foundation 5.0. You can use VMware Cloud Foundation+ with both VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware Cloud Foundation on Dell EMC VxRail.

VMware is pleased to offer VMware Cloud Foundation+™ services in limited regions. With VMware Cloud Foundation+, you can:

  • Apply subscription-based consumption for your VMware Cloud Foundation™ deployments

    • Purchase VMware Cloud Foundation through a subscription license. Pay according to your usage with flexible subscription options.

    • Eliminate license key management through keyless entitlement

    • Rely on a core-based licensing meter instead of socket-based licensing

  • Centrally operate your entire VMware Cloud Foundation real estate

    • Securely connect your on-premises VMware Cloud Foundation instance to VMware Cloud™ by using VMware Cloud Gateway. Connection to the cloud requires only outbound HTTPS port 443. • View the on-premises VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware vCenter Server® inventory through a single pane of glass.

    • Monitor security posture, alerts, and capacity state of clusters across vCenter Server instances in the context of VMware vSphere+™ and VMware vSAN+™ through a central Cloud Console.

    • Track subscription usage across your deployments.

    • Provision to and manage VMs on your distributed deployments through a Central Console.
