After you deploy the VMware Aria Operations for Networks collector node in an additional VMware Cloud Foundation instance, perform the necessary configuration tasks to activate the VMware Aria Operations for Networks services in the additional VMware Cloud Foundation instance.

Follow the existing implementation procedures to configure the VMware Aria Operations for Networks collector node in the additional VMware Cloud Foundation instance according to your values in the VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook.

Steps

Description

1. Define a Custom Role in vSphere for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation To integrate VMware Aria Operations for Networks with vSphere, you create a custom vSphere role with the required privileges in the vSphere Client.
2. Configure Service Account Permissions for vSphere Integration for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

To provide the necessary privileges to the service account for VMware Aria Operations for Networks to vSphere integration, you assign the custom role to the integration service accounts in vCenter Server.

3. Create Virtual Machine and Template Folders for the Platform and Collector Nodes for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

Create a folder in the management domain to group objects of the same type for easier management. You create a virtual machine folder on the management domain vCenter Server to manage the VMware Aria Operations for Networks collector nodes.

4. Prepare NSX for VMware Aria Operations for Networks Integration for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

To integrate NSX with VMware Aria Operations for Networks, you create a certificate and private key and use them to configure a principal identity in NSX Manager.

5. Move the VMware Aria Operations for Networks Virtual Machines to the Dedicated Folders for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation Move the VMware Aria Operations for Networks collector nodes to the dedicated virtual machine and template folder that you previously created.
6. Add the VMware Aria Operations for Networks Virtual Machines to the First Availability Zone VM Group for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

If your management domain is configured with two availability zones, to activate failover to the second availability zone, move the VMware Aria Operations for Networks collector node to the VM group for the first availability zone. The virtual machine write operations are performed synchronously across both availability zones and each availability zone has a copy of the data.

7. Add vCenter Server Data Sources for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation To gather data from your SDDC, you add the management and VI workload domain vCenter Servers as data sources to VMware Aria Operations for Networks.
8. Add NSX Manager Data Sources for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation To extend the data gathering capabilities of your SDDC, you add the NSX Manager(s) as data sources in VMware Aria Operations for Networks.
