In certain cases, for example, during hardware or power maintenance of the data center, you must shut down the VMware Aria Operations for Networks platform and collector nodes in a VMware Cloud Foundation system in a way that prevents data loss and appliance malfunction, and start up restoring component integration after the maintenance operation is over.

Shut Down the VMware Aria Operations for Networks Virtual Machines for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

To gracefully shut down the VMware Aria Operations for Networks, use the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle user interface.

If you shut down the entire VMware Cloud Foundation management domain, you start with the VMware Aria Operations for Networks. For the full-stack shutdown order of VMware Cloud Foundation, see Shutting Down VMware Cloud Foundation.

Procedure

  1. Log in to VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle at https://<aria_suite_lifecycle_fqdn> as vcfadmin@local.
  2. Click on Lifecycle Operations, and from the left pane click Environments.

  3. On the Cross Region environment, click on the View Details link at the bottom of the card.

  4. Click the three horizontal dots on the VMware Aria Operations for Networks bar at the top of the pane, and select Power OFF.

  5. In the Power OFFVMware Aria Operations for Networks dialog box, click Submit.

  6. On the Request Details page, monitor the progress of the request until all Shutting down Guest OS stages finish, and the Request becomes Completed.

This operation proceeds to safely shut down the VMware Aria Operations for Networks.

Start the VMware Aria Operations for Networks Virtual Machines for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

To start up the VMware Aria Operations for Networks, use the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle user interface

If you start up the entire VMware Cloud Foundation management domain, you start the VMware Aria Operations for Networks last. For the full-stack startup order of VMware Cloud Foundation, see Starting Up VMware Cloud Foundation.

Procedure

  1. Log in to VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle at https://<aria_suite_lifecycle_fqdn> as vcfadmin@local.
  2. Click on Lifecycle Operations, and from the left pane click Environments.

  3. On the Cross Region environment, click on the View Details link at the bottom of the card.

  4. Click the three horizontal dots on the VMware Aria Operations for Networks bar at the top of the pane, and select Power ON.

  5. In the Power ONVMware Aria Operations for Networks dialog box, click Submit.

  6. On the Request Details page, monitor the progress of the request until all stages complete, and the Request becomes Completed.

This operation proceeds to safely power on the VMware Aria Operations for Networks and start all necessary services in order to run VMware Aria Operations for Networks.
