To activate monitoring for Intelligent Operations Management, you connect VMware Aria Operations to the VMware Cloud Foundation instance. You configure a VMware Cloud Foundation cloud account in VMware Aria Operations to monitor the VMware Cloud Foundation environment. All of the VMware Cloud Foundation domains are automatically discovered along. Additionally, the VMware Cloud Foundation cloud account provides dashboards to monitor the VMware Cloud Foundation environment.
Remove Existing vCenter Server Adapter in VMware Aria Operations for Intelligent Operations Management for VMware Cloud Foundation
In order to activate the VMware Cloud Foundation cloud account, you must first remove the existing vCenter Server Adapter and the associated credentials created automatically by SDDC Manager.
Procedure
- Log in to the VMware Aria Operations interface at https://<aria_operations_fqdn> with a user assigned the Administrator role.
- In the navigation pane, select .
- Click the Accounts tab.
- Remove the vCenter cloud account.
- Expand the vCenter account, click the vertical ellipsis, and click Delete all.
- In the Delete all accounts dialog box, select the Delete related objects check box and click Delete.
- Remove the vCenter and vSAN credentials.
- Click Credentials.
- Click the vertical ellipsis for the credential with vCenter adapter type and click Delete.
- In the Confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
- Click the vertical ellipsis for the credential with vSAN adapter adapter type and click Delete.
- In the Confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
Configure Credentials for SDDC Components in VMware Aria Operations for Intelligent Operations Management for VMware Cloud Foundation
To enable integrations for the VMware Cloud Foundation instance, you create credentials in VMware Aria Operations for SDDC Manager, vCenter Server, and NSX Manager.
Procedure
- Log in to the VMware Aria Operations interface at https://<aria_operations_fqdn> with a user assigned the Administrator role.
- In the navigation pane, click .
- Click the Accounts tab and click Credentials.
- On the Credentials page, click Add.
In the Manage Credential dialog box, configure the settings according to your VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook, and click OK.
Repeat this procedure for each remaining SDDC component according to the values in your VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook.
- Repeat the procedure for each VI workload domains in the VMware Cloud Foundation instance.
Configure the VMware Cloud Foundation Integration for Intelligent Operations Management for VMware Cloud Foundation
To complete the integration with the VMware Cloud Foundation instance, you create accounts for the SDDC Manager, vCenter Server, and NSX Manager components in VMware Aria Operations.
Procedure
- Log in to the VMware Aria Operations interface at https://<aria_operations_fqdn> with a user assigned the Administrator role.
In the navigation pane, click
.Click the Accounts tab and click Add Account.
- On the Account Types page, click the VMware Cloud Foundation card.
On the Add account -VMware Cloud Foundation page, configure the settings according to your VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook, and click Validate connection.
- In the Review and accept certificate dialog box, click Accept.
- On the Info dialog, click OK.
- Click Save.
- Click the Domains tab and click the tab for the management domain.
- Create the vCenter Server cloud account.
Click the vCenter tab and configure the settings according to the values in your VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook.
- Click Validate connection.
- In the Review and accept certificate dialog box, click Accept.
- On the Info dialog, click OK.
Continue with the defaults for Operational Actions.
- Click Next.
- Activate vSAN monitoring.
- Click on the vSAN tab, Validate connection.
- On the Info dialog, click OK.
- Click Next.
- Create the NSX cloud account.
- Click on the NSX-T tab, set the NSX-T configuration toggle to Activated.
Configure the settings according to the values in your VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook.
- Click Validate connection.
- In each Review and accept certificate dialog box, click Accept.
- On the Info dialog, click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Save this domain.
Repeat the steps to create the vCenter Server cloud account, activate vSAN monitoring, and create the NSX cloud account for each VI workload domain.
Note:The above steps can be followed when a new VI workload domain is added later
