After the inaccessible VMware Cloud Foundation instance is back online, prepare the clustered Workspace ONE Access instance and VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle for failover by reprotecting the virtual machines in Site Recovery Manager.
Procedure
- Log in to Site Recovery Manager in the protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance at https://<srm_fqdn>/dr as [email protected].
- In the existing site pair, click View details.
- Click the Recovery plans tab.
- Right-click the recovery plan for VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle and the clustered Workspace ONE Access instance and select Reprotect.
- On the Confirmation options page, select the check box confirming that you understand the reprotect operation is irreversible, and click Next.
- On the Ready to complete page, review the reprotect information and click Finish.
- To monitor the progress of the reprotect operation, click the recovery plan for VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle and the clustered Workspace ONE Access instance and click the Recovery steps tab.
- If the status of the recovery plan changes to Reprotect interrupted, repeat steps Step 1 to 6 by selecting the Force cleanup check box on the Confirmation options page.
- After the status of the recovery plan changes to Ready, click the History tab and click Export all.
- In the Export history report dialog box, select the format of the generated file, and click Download.
- Verify that the history report contains no errors.
The recovery plan can return to the Ready state even if errors occurred during the reprotect operation.
- If errors occurred during the reprotect operation, resolve them and run a test recovery to verify that the errors are fixed.
If you skip resolving the errors and attempt to run a planned migration or disaster recovery later, the recovery of some virtual machines might fail.
Results
After reprotect, Site Recovery Manager performs the following actions:
-
Reverses the recovery site and protected site.
-
Creates placeholder copies of the virtual machines of the clustered Workspace ONE Access instance and VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle from the new protected site to the new recovery site.
